2014 Vintage Tunina IGT, Vinnaioli Jermann - Magnum
Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy
Silvio Jermann is one of the most influential winemakers in Italy, turning his family’s modest farm into a hallmark winery in Friuli. Jermann’s release of his flagship wine, ‘Vintage Tunina’, a field blend of native and international varietals, remains a watershed moment for Italian wine.
Vintage Tunina is a field blend made of Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Ribolla Gialla, Malvasia and a little percentage of a sweet local grape variety. in the glass, it is bright straw-coloured with golden reflections. The nose is intense, wide, very elegant and persistent with scents of honey and country flowers. The palate is dry, soft, well balanced with an extraordinary persistence due to its full body. It matches with truffles, fish and poultry dishes.

The Jermann family have Austro-Hungarian origins, moving from today’s Slovenia to the Friuli Venezia Giulia in northern Italy in the late 19th century. They have a 150 hectare estate with 130 hectares under vine, and 20 dedicated to seeds and horticultural crops. Silvio Jermann is considered one of Friuli’s top winemakers and uses his imaginative flair to make wines in his own style – small quantities of big, fruity and age-worthy wines outside the stricter regulations of the DOC, therefore these wines are IGT. They are also all vegetarian and vegan friendly.
A state of-the-art winery, which was beautifully designed to sit in a ‘bowl’ amongst their vineyards. It’s the talk of the region, and very much reflective of Silvio Jermann’s forward-thinking approach to winemaking.
