Hommage au Pinot Noir, Champagne Henri Giraud *Gift Box*
Champagne, France
Golden and luminous in the glass, this Blanc de Noirs radiates both history and finesse. Aromas of ripe pear, apricot and candied citrus mingle with toasted brioche, salted almonds and a flicker of spice. The palate is powerful yet poised with rich layers of stone fruit and citrus peel balanced by bright acidity and a silken, saline finish. Creamy and complex, it’s a Champagne that speaks with quiet authority, unfolding in waves of texture and depth.
For when: the moment deserves both grace and gravitas.
Pairs with: lobster, roast quail, or Parmesan-laced pasta.
If this wine were a voice, it’d be velvet and confidence in perfect harmony.
Hommage au Pinot Noir pays tribute to the Giraud-Hémart family’s lineage, which has cultivated Grand Cru vines in Aÿ since 1625 — making Champagne Henri Giraud one of the oldest continuously family-run houses in the region. Crafted predominantly from Pinot Noir, with a portion of perpetual reserve wine, this cuvée reflects both tradition and innovation. Fermented and aged in Argonne oak barrels, it marries the grape’s natural intensity with the textural finesse that defines Henri Giraud’s house style. A Champagne of structure, soul and timeless elegance - as much a legacy as it is a wine.

Champagne Henri Giraud is a distinguished, family-owned Champagne house located in the Grand Cru village of Aÿ, with roots tracing back to 1625. The Hémart family, contemporaries of Henri IV, established their presence in Aÿ in the early 17th century. In the early 20th century, Léon Giraud married into the Hémart family and revitalised the vineyard after it was devastated by phylloxera. Today, the house is led by Emmanuelle Giraud, the 13th generation of the Giraud-Hémart lineage, continuing a legacy of excellence in Champagne production.
Henri Giraud is renowned for its commitment to terroir expression and innovative winemaking techniques. The house exclusively uses oak barrels sourced from the nearby Argonne Forest, a practice reintroduced by Claude Giraud in 1990. These barrels are crafted from carefully selected trees, with specific terroirs within the forest imparting distinct characteristics to the wines. This meticulous approach enhances the depth and complexity of their Champagnes.
Under the guidance of cellar master Sébastien Le Golvet, Henri Giraud employs a philosophy that balances tradition with innovation. The winemaking process emphasises minimal intervention, utilising natural materials and fermentation vessels such as terracotta and stoneware, alongside the signature Argonne oak barrels. This approach allows the wines to authentically reflect the unique minerality and character of the Aÿ terroir.
Raised during 54 months in total calm
12 months on lees without transfer in small oak barrels, then 6 months on fine lees to get ripe at ground temperature, this process is called “mise retardée”. 36 months of ageing in the bottle.
