2023 Côtes de Provence Blanc, Château La Mascaronne
Provence, France
Pale straw with a shimmer of green, this elegant Provençal white feels like sunshine filtered through sea air. Aromas of white peach, citrus blossom and pear mingle with hints of lemon zest, almond and wild herbs. On the palate, it’s crisp, textural and beautifully balanced with ripe orchard fruit wrapped in mineral freshness, lifted by a saline edge that lingers long after the last sip. Cool, composed and quietly radiant.
For when: you’re chasing the last of the afternoon light.
Pairs with: grilled sea bass, fresh goat’s cheese, or lemon-dressed salads.
If this wine were a moment, it’d be the hush before sunset - calm, golden and full of promise.
Set amid the limestone hills of Le Luc-en-Provence, Château La Mascaronne crafts its wines from organically farmed vineyards that capture the purest expression of Provence. Owned by Michel Reybier (of Château Cos d’Estournel), the estate combines meticulous winemaking with a deep respect for terroir. The 2023 Blanc is made primarily Rolle (Vermentino) blended with Clairette and Ugni Blanc that embodies that ethos: bright fruit, fine texture, and a delicate mineral soul.

Château La Mascaronne is an esteemed organic estate nestled in the heart of Provence, renowned for producing expressive and balanced wines that reflect the unique terroir of the region. Situated in the village of Le Luc, the estate encompasses 60 hectares of vineyards planted on clay-limestone soils at elevations around 300 meters. This distinctive terroir, combined with meticulous vineyard management and a commitment to organic farming practices since 2016, contributes to the exceptional quality of their wines.
In 2020, Château La Mascaronne was acquired by Michel Reybier, owner of Bordeaux’s Cos d’Estournel, who was captivated by the estate’s potential and the quality of its wines. Reybier’s vision for La Mascaronne is to highlight its remarkable terroir through a quest for excellence common to all his wine estates.
A direct pressing is carried out as soon as the grapes arrive at the winery to preserve their natural aromas, followed by a low-temperature fermentation lasting two to three weeks. The wine is then aged for several months in stainless steel tanks to maintain the purity and finesse of its aromas.
