2024 Gavi di Gavi, Terre Antiche by La Giustiniana

Gavi, Piemonte, Italy

Fresh, clean and beautifully uncomplicated, this Gavi di Gavi opens with bright aromas of lemon zest, green apple and white pear, gently lifted by white flowers and a subtle almond note. The palate is crisp and precise, delivering citrus and orchard fruit with a light saline edge and refreshing acidity that keeps everything focused and food-friendly. It finishes dry, bright and quietly moreish, the kind of white you reach for without thinking twice.

For when: you want something reliable, refreshing, and always welcome at the table.
Pairs with: seafood pasta, grilled fish, burrata, or light Mediterranean dishes.
If this wine were… a well-stocked fridge on a summer afternoon, reassuring and ready.

Terre Antiche by La Giustiniana represents a more accessible expression of one of Gavi’s historic estates, drawing on the same deep-rooted expertise and vineyard knowledge. With a winemaking approach focused on purity and balance, the wine showcases Cortese in its most drinkable form. Sourced from carefully selected vineyards within the Gavi di Gavi zone, it delivers freshness, clarity and regional character, offering a polished, everyday take on classic Piedmontese white wine.

La Giustiniana comprises 110 hectares of vines in the heart of the commune of Rovereto in Gavi. Originally, this land was part of a Benedictine convent and was bought by the Giustiniani, a military family from the Republic of Genoa, in 1625. At that time, wine was already produced from the estate's original 40 hectares of vineyards. The Benedictine monks cultivated the first vines planted here. Today, the winery is managed by Magda Pedrini and production is focused on expressing Gavi di Gavi's potential from the estate's two single vineyards, ‘Lugarara’ and ‘Montessora’. These vineyards sit side by side at 300 metres above sea level yet have very different soils and subsequently showcase different expressions of the Cortese grape.

After gentle pressing, the grapes underwent a two-week fermentation at 16°C in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Without any oak ageing, the wine was bottled in the spring following the harvest.
