2020 Uccellanda Curtefranca Bianco, Bellavista

Franciacorta, Lombardy, Italy

A masterstroke of elegance and restraint, the 2020 Uccellanda Curtefranca Bianco glows a deep golden hue, hinting at the richness within. The nose is immediately captivating, layers of quince, ripe lemon, and white peach interwoven with subtle tones of vanilla, toasted hazelnut, and acacia honey. On the palate, it’s pure silk: expansive yet weightless, with creamy texture balanced by a vibrant mineral thread. Notes of citrus oil and baked apple unfurl into a finish that feels both endless and refined, carrying the warmth of the vineyard’s sun-drenched slopes in every sip.

For when: dinner calls for something quietly spectacular.
Pairs with: butter-poached lobster, truffle risotto, or aged Comté.
If this wine were a feeling, it’d be the hush before sunset over Lake Iseo, glowing, poised, and utterly timeless.

From the sunlit slopes of the Uccellanda vineyard, Bellavista crafts this pure Chardonnay as an ode to Franciacorta’s still white wines. Grown organically on carbonate-rich glacial soils and aged in oak for subtle depth, it captures the estate’s signature balance between opulence and finesse. Under the watchful eye of the Moretti family, Uccellanda stands as a rare and luminous expression of place, a wine that whispers luxury with quiet confidence.

Founded in 1977 by the Moretti family, the Bellavista estate, which translates as ‘Beautiful View’, extends over 207 hectares of stunning land in Erbusco, in the heart of Franciacorta. Vittorio Moretti has always had a deep affection for the land. Long standing memories of carefree childhood summers spent with his grandparents in the countryside resurfaced many years later, when he decided to turn his hand to winemaking. In the beginning it was just a few hectares, a family home and an adjacent winery, with the desire to make good wine to share with friends. Fast-forward to today and the winery produces 1,500,000 bottles a year, according to organic viticulture principles. Franciacorta's unique terroir is nestled between the pre-Alps and Lake Iseo, and benefits from glacial soils and a mild, breezy climate ideal for grape growing. The epitome of Italian style, each cuvée beautifully showcases the essence of Franciacorta.

The grapes undergo a slow and soft mechanical pressing in Coquard presses, followed by decanting at cool temperatures. The must ferments in small oak barrels, 15% new and the rest 3-4 years old, for 12 months. The wine is then aged for 6 more months in the bottle.
