Amontillado del Puerto Almacenista Gonzàlez Obregón, Bodegas Lustau

El Puerto de Santa María, Andalucía, Spain

The Ocean’s Old Soul.

Graceful, aromatic and endlessly complex, the Amontillado del Puerto from Bodegas Lustau’s Almacenista collection is a captivating expression of maturity and maritime finesse. Tawny gold in colour, it opens with lifted aromas of toasted hazelnut, polished oak, orange peel and a touch of sea breeze from its coastal bodega. The palate is elegant and layered with nutty and savoury, with subtle sweetness balanced by a dry, saline finish that lingers beautifully. Refined, structured and quietly powerful, this is Amontillado at its most poised, an exquisite conversation between age, air and the Atlantic.

For when: the night calls for sophistication with a whisper of salt.
Pairs with: foie gras, consommé, smoked meats, Manchego or spiced seafood.
If this wine were a voice, it’d be a smooth baritone, warm, resonant, and unmistakably distinguished.

Made from 100% Palomino, this Amontillado originates from a solera of just 10 casks, aged in the cellars of José Luis González Obregón in El Puerto de Santa María, one of the three legendary towns of the Sherry Triangle. The town’s unique maritime climate, where ocean breezes meet warm Andalusian air, shapes a style of Amontillado that combines freshness with depth. Initially aged under flor as a Fino, the wine then continues ageing oxidatively once the flor fades, developing its signature golden hue, nutty richness and subtle oxidative complexity.

Part of Lustau’s Almacenista range, which honours the small, independent cellar masters who have preserved Sherry’s traditions for generations, this bottling epitomises the artistry and precision that define Lustau. Serve lightly chilled at 13–14°C and let this timeless Amontillado unfold, a wine that speaks fluently of age, elegance and the sea.

Regarded as one of the greatest and most respected names in Sherry, Bodegas Lustau stands at the pinnacle of Andalusian winemaking, a benchmark for quality, authenticity, and craftsmanship. Founded in 1896 by José Ruiz-Berdejo, the estate began as a small almacenista (stockholder) ageing and blending wines for larger houses. Over the decades, Lustau evolved from humble beginnings into a global ambassador for fine Sherry, earning acclaim for its meticulous sourcing, blending, and innovation.

Based in Jerez de la Frontera, with additional bodegas in El Puerto de Santa María and Sanlúcar de Barrameda, Lustau uniquely represents all three of the Sherry Triangle’s towns, allowing the house to showcase the full spectrum of terroir and style: from the saline freshness of Manzanilla to the nutty depth of Amontillado and the velvety opulence of Pedro Ximénez.

Lustau’s defining strength lies in its unparalleled range. The Solera Reserva series highlights traditional, meticulously aged styles; the Almacenista collection honours small independent producers and their individual soleras; and the VORS (Very Old Rare Sherry) range offers century-old treasures of staggering complexity and rarity. Every wine undergoes patient maturation under flor or oxidative ageing in centuries-old casks, capturing the delicate balance between time, air, and wood.

Under the guidance of Emilio Lustau’s successors and now as part of the Caballero Group, the bodega continues to set the gold standard for Sherry, combining heritage and innovation with unwavering precision. Today, Lustau is celebrated not only for its technical mastery but for preserving the living soul of Jerez: wines of profound depth, layered aromatics, and timeless Andalusian grace.
