2023 'Amfora' Orange Wine, Villa Noria
Languedoc-Roussillon, France
Amber-hued and gently perfumed, this is sunshine bottled with a touch of wildness. Aromas of rose, quince and baked apple mingle with hints of citrus peel, tea leaf and spice. The palate is bright and textural with juicy stone fruit wrapped in a fine, natural grip that brings balance and lift. Fresh, fruity and quietly complex, it finishes with a subtle, mouthwatering tension that keeps you coming back for another sip.
For when: you want something familiar… but not too familiar.
Pairs with: mezze platters, spiced tagines, or roasted root vegetables.
If this wine were a mood, it’d be golden hour - warm, glowing, and slightly unexpected.
The Amfora cuvée takes its name from the terracotta vessels that inspired its creation. The grapes are grown organically on clay-limestone and basaltic soils between the Mediterranean Sea and the foothills of the Languedoc. The volcanic soils, rich in iron, lend distinctive minerality, while the sea breezes keep the fruit fresh and balanced. Certified organic and HVE Level 3, the vineyards are alive with biodiversity - hedgerows, insects and wildlife all part of the ecosystem. Harvested in the cool of the night and crafted with minimal intervention, Amfora is a modern expression of ancient winemaking - vibrant, textured, and deeply rooted in place.

Villa Noria is the story of two wine enthusiasts, Fabien Gross and Cédric Arnaud, who both grew up in viticultural regions- Languedoc and Alsace- surrounded by vineyards and winemaking heritage and is the result of overflowing enthusiasm, ethics and values. The inheritance left to its owners by their winemaking ancestors was passion and respect for the land. Located a stone’s throw from the Mediterranean Sea, between Pézenas and Montagnac, Villa Noria produces elegant organic wines, from vines which are HVE Level 3 certified and cultivated in perfect harmony with nature and the terroir. The winemaking is traditional, without chemical additions and only low doses of sulphur are used. Their natural ranges, ‘Amfòra’ and ‘Basic Instinct’, are vinified without the addition of sulphur.
This orange wine was produced without the addition of sulphites or yeasts. The grapes were macerated with the skins and seeds for three months; the pigment and tannins were released into the wine and imparted the coppery hue. The grapes were gently pressed to release the juice which fermented with natural yeast. Matured in terracotta amphora, whose natural porosity provides oxygenation thereby reducing the acidity and refining the tannins. The wine was aged in the amphora on its lees until bottling, which took place without fining and just a gentle filtration.
