2014 Segla, Chateau Rauzan-Segla - Double Magnum
Margaux, Bordeaux, France
“The Second Act with First-Class Style”
Deep garnet with a soft crimson rim, this 2014 Ségla embodies Margaux elegance - fragrant, graceful, and quietly assured. The nose unfurls with cassis, plum, and redcurrant, intertwined with cedar, graphite, and a whisper of dried rose. On the palate, it’s seamless with supple layers of dark fruit and spice that glide over polished tannins, the oak beautifully integrated. There’s freshness, lift, and that signature Margaux perfume, all leading to a long, composed finish of cassis and tobacco leaf. Mature yet vibrant, this is Ségla in perfect stride, generous, refined, and deeply satisfying.
For when: the table’s full, the candles are low, and you’re in no rush at all.
Pairs with: roast beef, truffled chicken, or mushroom Wellington.
If this wine were an evening, it’d be the kind that stretches effortlessly past midnight.
Ségla is the second wine of Château Rauzan-Ségla, the famed Second Growth of Margaux owned by Chanel since 1994. Made from the same meticulously tended vineyards and under the same exacting care as the Grand Vin, Ségla offers a more approachable expression of the estate’s terroir while maintaining its hallmark finesse. The 2014 vintage, a beautifully balanced year in Bordeaux, combines Cabernet Sauvignon’s structure with Merlot’s plush charm, aged in French oak for depth and harmony. In double magnum, it’s a showpiece of Margaux sophistication - elegant, expressive, and built for the long haul.

"Very fresh and bright with strawberry, mineral and flower aromas that follow through to a medium body, fine and polished tannins and a fresh and clean finish. Harmonious. Beautiful second wine. Hard not to drink now."

Founded in 1661, Château Rauzan-Ségla is one of the great historic estates of Margaux, long admired for its precision, perfume, and poise. Classified as a Second Growth (Deuxième Cru Classé) in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification, the château has spent centuries refining its reputation for producing some of the most elegant and ageworthy wines on the Left Bank.
Since its acquisition by Chanel in 1994, Rauzan-Ségla has undergone a quiet renaissance under the direction of winemaker Nicolas Audebert. The estate’s 66 hectares of gravel and clay-limestone soils are planted predominantly to Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with small portions of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. The vineyard’s meticulous care, organic practices, precision harvesting, and parcel-by-parcel vinification ensure that every vintage reflects the purity of Margaux’s terroir.
In the cellar, tradition meets refinement: gravity-fed vinification, gentle extraction, and ageing in fine-grained French oak give the wines their hallmark texture and aromatic complexity. While the Grand Vin captures Margaux’s stately grace, the second wine, Ségla, distils the same pedigree into a more approachable form - silky, perfumed, and elegantly structured. Together, they represent the timeless balance of beauty and strength that defines Rauzan-Ségla’s enduring allure.
