2023 Picpoul de Pinet, Domaine de Guillemarine
Picpoul de Pinet, Languedoc-Roussillon, France
Pale straw with green reflections, this southern French white hums with energy and freshness. The nose bursts with citrus zest, green apple and pear, layered with notes of white flowers and a whisper of sea spray. On the palate, it’s crisp, vibrant and saline with zippy lemon and lime balanced by soft minerality and a mouth-watering finish that calls for another glass. Bright, breezy, and utterly drinkable, it’s summer in liquid form.
For when: the seafood’s sizzling and the sun’s still high.
Pairs with: oysters, grilled prawns, or a simple salad with lemon and olive oil.
If this wine were a place, it’d be a seaside lunch that turns into sunset drinks.
Located in the heart of the Picpoul de Pinet appellation, Domaine de Guillemarine sits just inland from the Étang de Thau lagoon, where cooling breezes from the Mediterranean shape the vineyards. The estate’s limestone and sandy soils enhance the grape’s natural brightness and saline character, while careful temperature-controlled vinification preserves purity and precision. The 2023 vintage captures everything that makes Picpoul irresistible: crisp fruit, coastal freshness, and a clean, elegant finish that lingers like a sea breeze.
