2021 Torre alle Comete, Campo Alle Comete
Standing high above the Etruscan coast, Torre alle Comete 2021 is a Bolgheri red that feels both powerful and poetic. Deep ruby in colour, it opens with aromas of ripe plum, blackberry and cassis, laced with wild herbs, cedar and that signature Bolgheri balsamic lift. The palate is poised and elegant with layers of dark fruit, graphite, and sweet spice unfurling over fine-grained tannins and a cool, coastal freshness. It’s rich yet refined, full-bodied yet effortless, with a finish that hums with energy and quiet sophistication.
For when: the night calls for conversation and something truly special.
Pairs with: Tuscan steak, truffle risotto or aged Parmesan.
If this wine were a landmark, it’d be a coastal tower at dusk, timeless, grounded, and gazing out to sea.
From its perch near the historic Donoratico Tower, Campo alle Comete has discovered one of Bolgheri’s most exciting new sub-zones. Planted at 230 metres above sea level, these vineyards sit among the highest in the DOC, blessed with sea breezes and abundant sunshine that create perfect natural balance. Crafted from 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% Cabernet Franc, the wine spends 18 months in French oak, one-third new, developing its supple texture and polished depth. Guided by Antonio Capaldo’s imaginative vision, this is modern Bolgheri at its finest, elegant, expressive, and, as its name suggests, a beacon of excellence among the stars.
