2023 Jacquère 'La Côte', Domaine Vendange
Pale straw with glints of silver, this Jacquère is mountain freshness bottled, crisp, clean, and quietly captivating. The nose offers a delicate bouquet of white flowers, green apple, and pear, lifted by a hint of alpine herbs and wet stone. On the palate, it’s razor-sharp yet graceful, gliding across the tongue with citrus zest, crushed rock, and a touch of hazelnut. The finish is pure and refreshing, lingering with a cool mineral edge that feels like spring water running over granite.
For when: the fire’s crackling but the windows are open to the cold.
Pairs with: fondue, grilled trout, or goat’s cheese with herbs.
If this wine were a moment, it’d be sunrise over snow, bright, still, and breathtaking.
Domaine Vendange is a family-run estate nestled in the Combe de Savoie, at the foothills of the French Alps. Founded by Benjamin and Diane Vendange, the domaine farms its steep, terraced vineyards sustainably, allowing the mountain’s natural rhythms to guide each vintage. Their ‘La Côte’ cuvée comes from old Jacquère vines grown on limestone and scree-rich slopes, where the high altitude and cool alpine breezes preserve remarkable acidity and precision.
The 2023 vintage embodies the house style, bright, mineral, and authentically alpine, a wine that captures both the purity of its altitude and the elegance of Savoie’s most distinctive grape.
