The 2020 Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG by Musella is a masterful expression of Valpolicella’s rich winemaking heritage, crafted with biodynamic precision and a deep respect for tradition. Sourced from estate vineyards nestled in the hills northeast of Verona, this wine is a blend of 50% Corvinone, 45% Corvina, 5% Rondinella, and 5% Oseleta. 

The grapes undergo the traditional Appassimento process, where they are dried in well-ventilated rooms, losing at least 40% of their original weight. This concentrates their sugars, aromatic compounds, and noble tannins. In January, the grapes are gently pressed, and fermentation begins at low winter temperatures (13–17°C). The wine is then aged for 24 months in 3,500 to 5,000-litre oak barrels, followed by 12 months in concrete tanks, allowing it to develop depth and complexity. 

In the glass, this Amarone reveals a deep ruby hue. The nose is rich with aromas of sweet cherries, dried fruits, spices, and hints of bitter chocolate and tobacco. On the palate, it is full-bodied and opulent, offering a harmonious balance of concentrated fruit flavours and a pleasantly tangy finish. The wine’s structure is supported by its 15.6% alcohol content, providing a robust yet refined experience.
