Twenty-four months on the full lees in traditional oak fuder gives remarkable texture and depth, while prolonged bottle ageing has allowed the elements to knit together beautifully. The finish is extraordinarily persistent, herbal, stony and laser-focused. The name can be translated as the \u003cstrong\u003e“little slate vineyard”\u003c\/strong\u003e, a particular parcel where the blue-slate bedrock lies exceptionally close to the surface. There is almost no conventional topsoil, so the roots penetrate deep through fractures in the rock. Dr Loosen’s vines here are at least \u003cstrong\u003e130 years old\u003c\/strong\u003e, ungrafted and among the oldest vines the estate possesses in Wehlen. \u003cspan class=\"contents\"\u003e\u003cspan class=\"\"\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"auto\"\u003eThe famous sundial overlooking Wehlen was erected in \u003cstrong\u003e1842 by Jodocus Prüm\u003c\/strong\u003e, an ancestor of the Loosen family.
